Have you ever heard of Fascia? And why Fascia holds the key to a better functioning body on all levels?

Fascia is the thin white stuff you see when you cut meat. Or as shown in the picture above. It is our connective tissue which can be found in our bones, muscles, organs and skin. It is our whole body’s wrap., our functional glue made of collagen. A spiderweb of that sends and receives signals.
In the past they used to think it was useless and it was thrown away when studying the muscles and organs. But the medical world is starting to see now that Fascia is more than just a thin layer that keeps us from falling apart.
Immune-system
But it is even more. It sends signals, it is the connective network for our whole body and it is where our immune-system lives. Immune cells like T-cells travel through fascia. Fascia needs to be well hydrated and flexible for them to reach places where they are needed in bones, organs, muscles, skin. If Fascia is dry and tight they cannot move and fight inflammation. This is a key factor in immune suppressive conditions like Cancer.
Mobility
Fascia gives signals for movement. It transmits force and integrates tissues. It is active in how the body senses, and adapts to movement and load.
Healthy Fascia means a healthy body with good mobility and flexibility.
How to keep Fascia healthy
A sedentary lifestyle is bad for Fascia. It leads to dry and Fascia that gets stuck leading to inflammation, pain and other serious conditions. Fascia needs movement to stay hydrated and flexible.
That’s where Yoga Asanas can play a key role in getting and keeping Fascia in shape. The poses massage organs ,they stretch and put the force in muscles and bones all which promote healthy flow in Fascia.
